An unnamed typeface used by Valentin Haüy, creator of the first books for the blind, in his Essai sur l’éducation des aveugles (1786). Also referred to as Haüy(’s) system. His comprehensive plan included instruction in both reading raised print and writing longhand with an iron stylus to create indentations; for this dual purpose a cursive style was used.
