Ludlow’s response to Futura, initially released as three weights in 1930 and gradually expanded until the 1950s, incl. Tempo Heavy Inline and the shadow-only Umbra (both caps-only). Commonly used for display headlines in advertising, ephemera, and newspapers.
Only two (incomplete) digital versions exist: Tempo Heavy Condensed from Linotype, and Red Rooster’s Tempo Grunged (or Grunge), a rough rendition based on the Medium weight. Presicav (Typodermic, 2008) is based on the Bold Extended. Heraldus, a digital version of Tempo Black, is no longer available.
