Designed by Eliyahu Koren as a typeface suitable for religious texts. Produced by Deberny & Peignot in Paris in 1957, it was used exclusively by the Jerusalem based publishing house Koren.
Koren Tanakh (Masterfont, 2010) is a digital version in two weights. “Tanakh” (the Hebrew Bible) was added to the name after Koren designed another typeface for the use in Siddurim (prayer books), see Koren Siddur.
