q̓apkiⱡ magazine, published by the Traditional Knowledge and Language Enrichment Society, is celebrating the arts, language, and culture of the Ktunaxa people of Southern British Columbia, Canada.

Art director / designer Marian Lowe sought to create a harmonious typographic palette that accommodated all of the Ktunaxa language orthography’s unique typographic and text rendering requirements, however, there are not many fonts available that support the Indigenous languages of Canada and have enough range in styles for editorial work. Marian chose Lava and November from Typotheque that already fully covered Ktunaxa and its local typographic requirements.

The magazine was a winner in the Editorial Package category at the 2024 edition of Canada’s National Magazine Awards.

The National Museum of Ceramics Princessehof in the Dutch city of Leeuwarden celebrated its 100th birthday in 2018, and has undergone a major renovation, making the museum more accessible to visitors. i29 interior architects created a modern interior design in the monumental buildings, which date from the 18th century; UNA designers from Amsterdam were responsible for the graphic design of the project. Typotheque’s fonts November and November Condensed are used for the signage and branding of the museum.

KeepReading, one of the largest South American educational publishers, developing in collaborations with partners teaching methods focused on practical use of mathematics. The series of pocket-size booklets is using November Condensed Bold on its cover, and headlines. Designed in-house by Carlos Padilla, their Lead graphic editor. The KeepReading logo uses Kepler Subhead with a custom ligature.

November Stencil comes with separate layers available for each stroke that inspired this logo and visual identity for the Leipzig-based Sero Architects. The Stencil version is combined with November Regular for the smaller text, for its no-nonsense industrial character. Designed by the Korean designer based in Hamburg Jihee Lee.

This year’s Nobel Peace Prize Exhibition celebrates the work of Dr Denis Mukwege and Nadia Murad, highlighting the issues of sexual violence used as a weapon of war worldwide.

Norwegian design office Melkeveien Designkontor chose the recently published November Stencil for the exhibition titles, and the text styles November for the captions, and designed the exhibition held at the Nobel Peace Center in Oslo.

Dag in de Branding organizes four one-day programmes a year, where concerts are put on at various locations in The Hague. The festival reflects current developments in classical and improvised music, in music theatre, in jazz and pop music, as well as in opera and electronic music.

The organisation wished to communicate in a very clear and simple language. At the same time the audience is interested in concise information and background stories. We proposed to communicate in a ‘dynamic’ way: ideally very compact and clear (logo, banners on location, posters, the website's homepage), but always with elaborate information close at hand: backgrounds on every concert can be found on the website, and the programme was redesigned as a magazine with interviews and other interesting stories.

To distinguish between the different types of information, we gave different typefaces different roles: Mallory (Frere-Jones Type) is the main typeface – bold, enthusiastic, precise and warm. On posters, Mallory is paired with Typotheque’s November for edition-specific information in different sizes and widths. The different widths come in very handy, as we decided to communicate the composer's names in big sizes, and at the same time breaking down any name on a poster was a definite no-go. Running text in both print and website is set in Nocturno. Like Mallory, it’s warm, and slightly wide.
