Gamay by Darden Studio is the typeface used in the new visual identity of Thunderbowl Architects.

The architectural practice in Aspen presents itself with a logo that features two weights of Gamay Narrow. It’s merely a line of text in all caps, and there are design pundits who frown upon logos that are just typed out, without further adjustments. But we think it works great here!

The subtle contrast in weight adds structure – without the need to separate the two words by a space or a line break. The logo is wide, but, thanks to the compact typeface, not overtly so. In fact, the proportions nicely echo the vastness of Colorado’s mountainous scenery. Tracking was opened up a bit, giving the wordmark an airiness that’s a good fit for the firm’s architectural projects. Fortuitously, Gamay’s W – a symmetrical letter distinguished by a pointed apex – falls right in the center.

The Narrow is the most space-saving width out of the six included in the typeface family designed by Viktoriya Grabowska. All-caps Gamay Narrow also serves for the titles and headlines on the website. Body copy is rendered in Alexandra Korolkova’s PT Sans Narrow.

The font Epoque Black was used on the cover and in the interior of this “Practical and Nutritious Recipes Guide” published by the nutrition cell of the Department of Health and Social Assistance of ALECE. In addition to being used on the cover with a stylized capital S, the font was used in the interior in the Bold weight for the titles. The text typeface is PT Sans.

A student in Typomania School’s book design course, Julia Dvoryaninova decided to create a guidebook that introduces the reader to the main locations and characters of the film about Amélie Poulain, citing reviews and comments by its authors. The book’s typography is executed with the help of Kazimir by CSTM Fonts and PT Sans.

Forbes Ukraine has released a new issue of the magazine. This issue promises to be diverse and intriguing for readers. It covers various aspects of modern Ukrainian life. In the magazine, you’ll find the first list of top employers for veterans, the “30 under 30” list of promising young Ukrainians, 40 companies that entered foreign markets during the war, and the stories of Maria Berlinska and Vsevolod Kozhemiako, along with nearly two dozen other articles.

To emphasize the publication's national character and support for Ukrainian designers and creative professionals, the designers used the stylish Ukrainian fonts Cy Grotesk and Varp by Maksym Kobuzan for one of the cover headlines and the “30 under 30” section.

Brand identity and packaging design for Grower Cosmetics, a local brand of eco-cosmetics based on hemp oil and local natural ingredients.

Designer Yan Zaretsky transcends a “raw, handmade and honest experience” using recycled, ecological paper materials and conveys the feeling of care and beauty with the display font Cosi Times from Nikolas Type, expressively highlighting individual product names, while PT Sans by Para Type as well as Grtsk from the Black Foundry find a considered and well-balanced functional usage.

(X,Y) paper is my Bachelor project in Visual communication at the Department for Design at the KHiB (Kunst- og designhøgskolen i Bergen / Art and design university Bergen).

It's a research project about polarization and how we as humans relate to our opponents. The project explores how we interact and talk to people with completely different opinions then our self. The project has resulted in a printed newspaper. The newspaper aims to use design as one of several tools get the reader to reflect around how he or she talks to her own opponents and how we can do this in a better and more tolerant way.

Paradise Island 2 by Game Insight is the sequel to “one of the best economy simulation games of all time.” The font used for the logo as well as game graphics and collateral is Loyola.

Lyon-based agency Akaru has produced a very distinguished looking website for a distinguished French composer. The type — Mirador, a recent neo-classical design by Rene Bieder — generally hits all the right notes here. PT Sans is a calm and prudent counterpoint.

Each section is paced by full-screen photography overlaid by a large, reversed headline. It’s a handsome look — and while it’s not an unusal concept in our era of responsive web design, an uncommon and suitable typeface like Mirador keeps things from getting predictable. Lined backgrounds reference sheet music, and an inconspicuous audio player offers a soundtrack as you read. The only thing that puzzles me is the excessive line-height for all body text, a habit that continues to plague the current web trend toward the spacious and airy. It’s fine to leave room for breathing between and around elements on the page, but there’s no need to split your paragraphs apart. More linespacing does not equal better reading.

Still, I credit Akaru for picking interesting type and setting an appropriate tone. It seems to suit the subject quite well.
