Appears to have originated as Crypt.
PostCrypt “is based on Crypt from
MacroMind,
Inc. It was made by Walter Kafton-Minkel and edited by Earl
Allen at Altsys.” [Aaron
1993] Crypt was around by 1991 [Kovacs],
and PostCrypt (used for sample) by 1992 [Computer
Graphic Worlds ad]. The lowercase has smaller caps.
Similar to and possibly inspired by
lettering made for comic book series
Tales from the Crypt in the 1950s. “The original
lettering may have been done by Al Feldstein who
was the editor of the comic book and later became editor of
Mad magazine after Harvey Kurtzman left EC
(Entertaining Comics).” [Dada]
