“Old Bowery is an ATF revival, in 1933 and again in 1949, of Round Shade No. 2 [the open style], originated by Bruce, one of its predecessor companies, about 1854, as Ornamented No. 1007.” [McGrew]
Film versions include Bowery (Photo-Lettering, before 1965), Old Bowery and Abramesque (VGC, before 1972), and Old Bovery and Abramesque (TypeShop, before 1973).
A digital interpretation was designed by Paul Barnes and
Christian Schwartz in 2015. Their Caslon Rounded has
one filled weight with italics and one shaded weight with layers.
To be released with Commercial Classics. There’s also a
wood version.
