Designed by Ed Benguiat, apparently loosely modeled after an untitled set of capitals shown in J.M. Bergling’s Art Alphabets and Lettering (1914). Discotheque is shown in the One Line catalog (1971) in 3 weights plus Outline and Contour variants.
Lettergraphics shows a virtually identical face in a single medium weight as Joe in a 1974 ad of “new goodies”.
