Originally released by Stempel as Künstler-Schreibschrift (“artist’s script”) in 1902/1903, based on a design from Deberny. Came in two weights and a narrow style. In 1957, Hans Bohn added a bold cut. [Reichardt] See also Kuenstler Script.
Mecanorma’s dry-transfer version was named Art script. URW’s digitization spans two weights. Kunstlerschreibschrift D Medium (used for the sample) is similar to Linotype’s Kuenstler Script #2 Bold, but is more delicate and has round dots. Kunstlerschreibschrift D Bold is based on Bohn’s addition. Unlike Kuenstler Script Black, it has smooth joins.
