Nuit Blanche Mayenne is a one-night event that happens every two years and takes place in the small city of Mayenne: for a few hours, it shows contemporary art and design works in different places of the city center. Calling itself the smallest Nuit Blanche in the world, the event brings together more than 40 artists, whether they are renowned or from the emerging scene.

This year’s communication was given to Atelier Tout va bien. The program designed for the occasion and to use as a tool to wander around the city shows the signature color combination of red and silver chosen for the event. As the brochure had to show at the same time a map and a presentation of each artistic intervention, the booklet has two paper formats: a cover of eight pages printed on Fedrigoni Sirio Flamingo paper, on which we can find the map of Mayenne, and inside, a smaller booklet for the featured artists. This change of paper format makes it easier for the reader to go back and forth from the description to the map.

Atelier Tout va bien used Tactic, a sans serif designed by Antoine Elsensohn, and Big Daily designed by Alaric Garnier and available from Production Type. Tactic is used for titles and display text while Big Daily is used on the interior pages for longer stretches of text. This now classic combination of a geometric sans with a humanistic serif has nevertheless a spicy effect, as the abrupt 90 degrees lines of Tactic are put in perspective with the roundness and huge x-height of Big Daily.

I, Giulia B., am a graphic and web designer based in London, UK. My work spans across multiple media with a specific focus on web design and typography.

The fonts used on the portfolio website are Antoine Elsensohn’s Tactic and my own Bastardo Grotesk. By mixing the typefaces in an organic and non-traditional way, they blend and create a completely unique set of characters and roles.

Creatures of the City is a monograph for SCAU architecture, published by Park Books in 2018. Format 23×32 cm, 256 pages. Tactic (Antoine Elsensohn) is used throughout. Produced with photographer Cyrille Weiner, writer Aurélien Bellanger, with assistance from Cécile Legnaghi.

Parallèle – International production pole for emerging practices – is a production platform for international artists based in Marseille. It works for the development of artistic projects, within and from Marseille and its surroundings, at an international scale.

Festival Parallèle, a highlight of visibility for the platform, shares such forms with an ever-increasing and dedicated audience. At the heart of the programme lie the projects by the artists supported in terms of production-distribution. Together with them and stakeholders of many dynamics, there are artists from the new generation whose work we want to share with the audience from our territory and professionals in the cultural field, be it locally, nationally or internationally, who can continue to give life to the projects, by inviting them later on.

Parallèle is like a pool of talents, a quality space of visibility for artists from the young generation and we can assess every year the impact of this endeavour, as we see these artists evolve on the greatest stages in France, Europe and the Mediterranean area.
