Meister Eder und sein Pumuckl is a classic German children’s TV series directed by Ulrich König and produced by Bayerischer Rundfunk. It is based on the character Pumuckl, originally created by Ellis Kaut in 1961 for a radio play series. The first of the 26 TV episodes was screened on 24 September 1982. Ellis Kaut passed away on 24 September 2015, aged 94.
The opening titles feature animated yellow caps from Herkules, an old typeface by Haas that was available from Letraset and Berthold Fototypes in the 1980s. There is no good digital version of Herkules. For later Pumuckl DVD covers, the similar Hobo has been used.
In the very first episode and unlike in this version, Pumuckl is still invisible. The opening titles show the animated letters only, without the kobold.
