Kara Plak is a small publishing house in Turkey, focused solely on books about music culture. Its first two titles are translations from English: Kadife Bey (The Velvet Gentleman) by Richard Skinner (translated by Yusuf Eradam), and The Beatles by Hunter Davies (translated by Doruk Yurdesin). The interiors of both books are set in Mark Simonson’s Bookmania, using InDesign CC 2015, and printed on 70g/m² Holmen Book.

Kadife Bey is a novella about Erik Satie. The author used the ampersand (&) a lot — as a homage to the composer’s interest in typography.
