Some hand-rendered Banco at 8 Rue Mandar, Paris. Established in 1970 by Jacques Suissa, Sandan’s sells lingerie. Unfortunately, their current identity (tightly packed Helvetica in pink) doesn’t have the same panache as this sign at the entrance transom. It’s not clear when the sign was originally painted, but it could go all the way back to the shop’s origins in the 1970s.

Roger Excoffon based his typeface on hand lettering, and in turn, was often used as a model for hand lettering.
