Apple wasn’t the only company setting centered headlines in tight and condensed ITC Garamond. This first ad is probably a wink at Apple, but you could find this design motif all over advertising in the ’80s–’90s.
For comparison, here’s Hermann Zapf’s condensed “Garamond” created for AT&T (c. 1988). I must say it looks more like Times or a display Caslon to me.
