Rotring’s ArtPen was introduced in 1984. The product line also included a color version and the Art Pencil (discontinued), among other things. Ironically, and unlike in the current version, the brand names used to be in a ready-made typeface, and not rendered in custom calligraphy.

The typeface is Slogan, a brush script designed by Helmut Matheis and first cast by Ludwig & Mayer in 1958. Herr Matheis just celebrated his 99th birthday, and he still enjoys drawing letters (although not with an ArtPen).
