In 2000, the Centraal Museum Utrecht devoted an entire retrospective to renowned Dutch illustrator and graphic designer Dick Bruna’s work. Anthon Beeke's poster displays an extreme close up of Bruna’s most popular and endearing creation, Miffy the little rabbit, in order to highlight the illustrator’s economic yet unmistakable graphic style. The sparseness of the design is emphasized by the use of Helvetica Bold, all lowercase, for all textual information — except for Bruna’s first name, which is taken from the illustrator’s signature.

  1. Bummer that there was no Mercator at hand.

  2. I was thinking the same thing. Here’s Bruna’s alphabet book set in Mercator. At least they respected the simplicity of his design. It’s a very attractive poster.
