Garfield is a long-running comic series by Jim Davis, published since 1978. It has held the record for most-syndicated comic strip in the world, and has been the basis for a television cartoon series, feature-length movies, and endless merchandise.

Garfield has been branded with Cooper Black since at least 1980 when Garfield at Large, the first compilation of Garfield comic strips, was published. That book is succeeded by more than 60 other compilation books, most – if not all – of which feature Cooper Black prominently on their cover.
