Lead singer and co-founder of Steely Dan, Donald Fagen offered his first solo album, The Nightfly, in October 1982. The album is a nostalgic rendering of late ’50s/early ’60s jazz-infused pop. Fittingly, the typeface on the cover—News Gothic—is one of the more popular of the era.
The liner notes appear to also be in News Gothic, although the lighter face would probably have been Lightline Gothic and the small, bold text in News Gothic Bold.
