ITC Avant Garde Gothic appears in tightly spaced caps on the cover of Mingus Moves, the 1973 album by jazz composer and bassist Charles Mingus. By employing the alternate 'moving’ M for the second word, the typography subtly comes to life. I wonder why they redrew the G?
The back cover features the artist’s name in big L&C Hairline, another Lubalin/Carnase creation, towering over four columns of liner notes in Helvetica.
