Identity for “Show Mambembe”, a TV show exploring the intersection of music, artist, and place. On each episode, a musician takes the public through the streets and characters of a neighborhood in Rio de Janeiro in an experience that integrates music and the city.

Inspired by the old street signs in Rio, I used Jean-Luc Thin as the main typeface of Show Mambembe’s identity system. The identity acts as a mask and the textures take over parts of the city, a visual representation of rhythm/music.

Graphik is used as the complementary typeface for moments that had longer copy such as reading suggestions, fun facts, and historical info.

  1. The show’s thumbnails with the titles appear to be Magallanes Black (Los Andes, Latinotype, 2012).
