Byte Magazine’s exuberant opening spread for a series of articles about the ‘C programming language’ — in 1983 a somewhat recent addition to the programming landscape, today a fundamental building block that underpins much of our computing infrastructure, including many higher-level programming languages. I love that one of the articles in the series is by a writer named James Joyce.

The text typeface is Univers. The title in purple Helvetica caps is integrated into a giant C that looks like it’s modeled after Copperplate Gothic.
