The recently launched Beta version of the news portal European Daily already grants full access for all visitors to enjoy a selection of informative and analytical articles with Europe as a frame of reference. It will be a platform for pan-european debate transcending national borders and feature interesting issues in politics, business, culture and sport. The careful design takes advantage of the features and newsy feel of Abril and Tablet Gothic, two type families carefully engineered for cross-platform publishing.
The European Daily has been designed and developed by Johan Malmsten and his colleagues Christofer Berg and Daniel Freund. They say: “We were looking for a set of fonts that would give a classic, yet contemporary feel; work equally well in digital and printed form; and lend itself to an airy design where the quality content is in focus. The combination of Abril Display/Text and Tablet Gothic fitted that bill perfectly.”
