L. W. Currey, Inc. about the first volume:

The first feminist science fiction anthology. A useful work with a 52-page introduction and notes by Sargent. Collects twelve stories, including several classics, by Sonya Dorman, Judith Merril, Katherine MacLean, Marion Zimmer Bradley, Anne McCaffrey, Kit Reed, Kate Wilhelm, Carol Emshwiller, Ursula K. Le Guin, Chelsea Quinn Yarbro, Joanna Russ, and Vonda N. McIntyre, and a poem by Sonya Dorman. “With a lengthy and well-argued introduction by the editor, it is perhaps the most solid (and has proved the most influential) of all the ‘feminist’ SF anthologies published in the 1970s.” — Pringle, The Ultimate Guide to Science Fiction, second edition (1995).

The cover typography for the initial volume combines Chwast Blimp A with light Futura caps. For the follow-ups, Blimp was replaced by another obese ’70s face, VGC’s Too Much Shadow, paired with all-caps ITC Souvenir (or Eastern Souvenir?).

The cover illustrations for all three books are by Charles Shields. On Good Show Sir (“Only the worst Sci-fi/Fantasy book covers”), Wendy comments on the second volume:

OK, we’ll let you women do the writing, editing, introduction and notes on just this one book. But we’ll only trust a guy to do the cover art.
