Eden is a Vietnamese restaurant on Rosenstraße in Berlin-Mitte, close to Hackescher Markt. Their logo is in Pristina (1994), a Letraset original designed by Phill Grimshaw (1950–1998). The red neon sign above the entrance shows a nonchalant rendition of the unconnected cursive. Despite the limitations of the medium, all the properties of Pristina are still in place. I’m sure Grimshaw would have loved this monolinear version. After all, he also designed lighter weights for Mistral andBanco when ITC reissued Excoffon’s classics in the 1990s.
Until recently, before the neon sign was installed, Eden had a sign based on Slogan by Helmut Matheis (1917–).
