Internazionale is an Italian independent weekly magazine. We publish the best articles from the worldwide quality press translated into Italian. The layout of the magazine was designed by Mark Porter in 2009. After the first Internazionale issue in his new design, he wrote: “The restyling is finished. But the life of the new project is just beginning. The real test will be how you readers will find you in the years to come.”

Fast forward to 2019. Ten years later, Porter is still involved with the magazine’s team, and the magazine still uses the same typeface for all copy: Lyon, designed by Kai Bernau. The magazine logo was designed in 2014 based on Lyon, and evolved into a custom typeface – Internazionale Stencil – which is used alongside Lyon in the magazine and on the magazine website.

The first section of the magazine is dedicated to current events. For section headers we use Lyon’s stencil version. This double page is about current events in Sudan.

The central section of the magazine is dedicated to reportages and investigative reports. The layout is freer and we can play with the font size for more interesting effects.

2 Comments on “Internazionale magazine, 2019”

  1. In 2015, CarvalhoBernau drew a custom Greek version of the magazine logo, used on a cover that focused on the financial struggles between Greece and the EU.

  2. Amazing how they don’t put a sans serif anywhere, not even for the tiniest auxiliary purpose (except the legally required barcode).
