The EndcapS titling technique was a frequent trope of 1970s and ’80s sci-fi, suspense, and other fiction. This cover was likely inspired by Stephen King’s The Dead Zone, a popular thriller from three years before. The ‘N’ was modified to mirror the descending ‘F’ and it got a little too heavy.

EndcapS had a high profile reprise in 2017 with Stranger Things.
