Handreiking Voorland (“Foreland Guide”) addresses the question how you can include foreland in the calculation of water safety. Commissioned by POV Voorlanden which is part of the High Water Protection Program HWBP. 160 pages / 240×310 mm.

This question is referred to by the extensive use of different hues of blue throughout, and by using Production Type’s Minotaur Beef for headlines, with its prominent ink traps – originally a design solution aimed at newsprint, in order to be able to print readable typography on porous paper. To prevent letter shapes from looking clogged or dirty, corners and holes are omitted where parts of a letter join or cross. In print, the spreading ink will fill the omitted spots. Just like the letters which anticipate ink overflow, the foreland typography responds to the surplus – or lack – of water.

Minotaur Beef is paired with Minotaur. Page navigation and infographics use Larsseit.
