A bichromatic use of Hermann Zapf’s Saphir, for Fair-Nick Stars, a beguine/calypso album recorded by musicians from Martinique, Guadeloupe, and French Guyana. First cast by Stempel in 1953, the ornamented caps were available for dry-transfer lettering from both Letraset and Mecanorma. The double hyphen is probably a custom creation, made from parts of other glyphs. British Inserat (or Compacta?) is used for the titles. Cover by Gilles Sala, with photography by Jean Civilisé. With “Arrêté mal palé”, compiled on Sofrito sampler.
Rare 1970s French pressing on Capriccio label.
