Song of Solomon is the third novel written by Toni Morrison. It was first published by Alfred A. Knopf, New York, in 1977.

The dust jacket was designed by R.D. Scudellari, using ITC Serif Gothic Heavy (1974) by Herb Lubalin and Tony Di Spigna. The title is arranged in three lines, with the O’s aligned. The initial S’s are enlarged and additionally adorned with wings. The second S nestles up against the preceding O. Together with the customized L and the subsequent O, it seems to form an abstract face. ITC Serif Gothic’s original pointed shapes for M and N used here unfortunately are not included in the digital version. Note the omitted tittles in the author’s name.
