Escouade Créative
L’Escouade Créative is a multidisciplinary literary collective that seeks to make literature accessible by celebrating it. The members organize events in unexpected places and with unexpected mediums (digital, historical, etc.). For example, they did a show about What-Ifs of Quebec’s history which took place on the city’s bus transit.
The identity uses Grandmaster together with Bicyclette Bold. The aim was to create rhythm between the fonts. L’Escouade is all about promoting literature, which is usually presented in a more traditional manner. They are doing it in a fresh and creative way, though, and take literature “out of the books and into the streets”. That’s why the logo is quite playful with the contrasting fonts and the extended letterforms of Grandmaster. Also, I love Bicyclette because it is quite simple but it had enough personality to work with Grandmaster.
The typographic palette is completed by Crimson Text, which is used for body text. It was chosen for a “printed book” feel. To spice up this more traditional look, we highlighted important words in Bicyclette. On the website, Crimson Text was substituted with Dapifer.
