Facebook’s signature typeface, Lucida Sans (Lucida Grande on OS X and iOS), is really only meant for small type — and that’s how it’s used throughout most of Facebook.com. For Facebook Stories, a special venue outside the main social network, Facebook’s design team breaks free from the standard template with larger type. Freight Sans has a form very similar to Lucida’s, but with tight spacing and more expressive details it makes an excellent display companion. The condensed webfont used for labels is Vinyl, an old T-26 blurring of Trade Gothic Condensed or Alternate Gothic.
