2019 World Interaction Design Day
Halyard Micro is used as the text typeface for World Interaction Design Day. The sans serif by Darden Studio is paired with Matthew Carter’s slab serif Roster for display.
World Interaction Design Day (#IxDD) is an annual event presented by Adobe and IxDA (Interaction Design Association). This year’s theme is trust and responsibility. The visual identity was designed by Tré Seals, and the website developed by Impekable.
Web pages are rendered in four weights of the Halyard Micro family. While most copy is set in the Book, the SemiBold was chosen for menus and emphasis. Headings feature Roster in Light and Regular weights. A trait that both these typefaces have in common is the extreme thinning where strokes meet. The IxDD wordmark is based on Orwellian by Shiva Nallaperumal.
Roster Regular (heading) and Light (date), paired with Halyard Micro Book (text) and SemiBold (theme). With crisp details, clear shapes, and open spacing, Halyard Micro is optimized for small sizes. It remains legible even when used white against light-colored backgrounds.
