Malo Lacroix designed the live visuals for the Balzaal Redbull Electropedia stage at the Dour Festival 2019, curated by Simon Médard. He worked with the Oroban font (Blaze Type) and animated it for an ultra-panoramic scenographic set up, with light and LED system by Arf&Yes.
The batch of motion sequences were inspired by short statements from the world of mass media and advertising. They were shown during live and DJ sets by drum and bass legends MC GQ and DJ Marky. Blinking words and sentences appear intermittently and play with change and combination as well as shapes and outlines. The challenge was to control textual and graphic elements in order to develop a rich and stroboscopical show.
