The most prominent use of Motter Femina in recent years probably is the cover for “Crazy in Love”, the lead single from Beyoncé’s debut solo studio album Dangerously in Love from 2003, featuring Jay-Z. It became a number-one hit in the United States and the UK.

Femina underwent a treatment of highlights and shadows, giving it a somewhat three-dimensional look.

  1. This early 2000s take on the 60s is so weird. They choose the right typefaces and yet use them in such a overly digitized way there’s no aesthetic similarity left. But I guess this haunt for “retro-authenticty” is a newer phenomenon.
