Coinciding with its 70th anniversary, German daily newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, or FAZ, has launched a publicity campaign titled Freiheit beginnt mit F (“Freedom starts with F”).
The initial F from the iconic fraktur nameplate is paired with SangBleu Kingdom. The copy on the campaign website, freiheitimkopf.de, is rendered in another design by Swiss Typefaces, the sans-serif Suisse Int’l. For all I know, the nameplate is not based on a specific typeface, but was custom drawn. A similar F with ball terminal can be found in some fraktur typefaces from the branch known as Kanzleischriften.
The new visual identity was developed by Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung together with Strichpunkt.
