Sound Walks for Unconfined Adventures is an ongoing dialogue between Flavia Passigli and Edoardo Mozzanega, two artists that collaborate from a distance. The series is a back and forth of gifts and provocations that they started to exchange as a creative response to confinement during Covid-19 quarantine time. From Soundwalks.net:
How can we remotely meet, avoiding the flatness of the instant communication of the internet? How can our exchange become a chance to experience reality with new eyes and new ears? How can a limited and known area become a gate for new discoveries?
As an answer to these questions, we are creating a playful dialogue, made of sounds and instructions. An opportunity to go out from our house, walk, listen, interact with our usual environment and let it become adventurous, imaginative, unpredictable.
During a sound walk one experiences an overlapping of different sensorial layers and enters a hybrid imaginative space where physical and virtual realities melt. Similarly, typography, images and graphic elements of the identity concur to brake the barriers between layers and invite the viewer to venture in.
The sharp shapes of Neue Machina, with ink traps almost breaking through the letters, contribute to this effect. In the uppercase title the letters recall the wire mesh underneath, that breaches open when scrolling down the homepage of the website. The slightly squared shapes of the lowercase letters, combined with the large play/pause buttons contribute to create a virtual feel reminiscent of retrò digital interfaces.
This is an ongoing project. Currently only a teaser track is available, soon various sound walks will be released.
