The Tanzhaus Zürich, one of the most important centers for contemporary choreography and performance in Switzerland, received a new building in September 2019, designed by architects Barozzi Veiga.

Studio Nicolas Schaltegger was commissioned to design its visual identity. Time, rhythm, space, movement, connectivity, play, and accessibility were important features during the development process. The endless typographic cycle echoes the trapezoidal windows of the building. The lettering bounds on the short sides of the figure, trifling with space and time. The moving and limitless viewpoints of the frame mimic the experience of spectator and performer.

In the process, the logo is choreographed with the axes time, perspective and color. This invites continuous play between all elements—just like in contemporary dance.

The typography, using Fakt Blond and Medium by Thomas Thiemich, is designed unobtrusively as a counterpart to the visually strong logo.
