Although often associated with neon tube lettering, Dean Morris intended his Quicksilver (Letraset, 1976) to look like bent thermometers. On this cover for a compilation by K-Tel Records, the temperature has risen well beyond Saturday Night Fever, and is about to reach white heat. Some parts of the letterforms have already melted away, like Quicksilver’s characteristic baseline connector in N, while E and S have fused. Secondary text is presented in a number of weights and widths from Helvetica. The K-Tel logo uses Kabel Black.
