The City by Jane Gaskell (Paperback Library)
Benguiat Discotheque is one of the lesser known designs by Ed Benguiat. Drawn in the second half of the 1960s, the amorphous caps appear to be loosely modeled after Walhalla (Klinkhardt, ca. 1900), or after an untitled alphabet shown in J.M. Bergling’s Art Alphabets and Lettering (1914). Discotheque is shown in the One Line catalog (1971) in three weights plus Outline and Contour variants. Benguiat Bravado is a related design. To my knowledge, neither has been digitized yet.

The City is part of The Atlan Saga by British fantasy writer Jane Gaskell (b. 1941). First published in 1966, this is the Paperback Library edition from 1968. The cover art is by Jeff Jones.
