Wayne J. Stettler’s Neil Bold (VGC, 1966) is the star of a purely typographic cover design for an introduction to Job Control Language (JCL) for the IBM System/370. The white rectangles in the numerals are a reference to the punched cards that were used as a data storage device.
The book was written by Gary DeWard Brown, President of Spear H. Computing Corporation, a national computer consulting firm. This paperback edition was published by Wiley in 1977.
