A 1965 edition of a booklet on identifying the mammals of the Southwest Deserts, edited by George Olin and published by the Southwest Parks and Monuments Association. The first edition appeared in 1954 under a different title, Animals of the Southwest Desert, with a different cover design.
The neutral and quintessentially American Franklin Gothic is complemented by an eccentric Deco sans: Bernhard Gothic, which combines humanist and geometric elements. Both typefaces take a secondary role to the gorgeous illustration, made by Jerry Cannon, who also illustrated the black and white images inside of the booklet. The credits are set is Vogue, which has similar qualities as Bernhard Gothic.
