Abdelkrim Raïs (1912–1996) was a Moroccan rebaba (the fiddle pictured on the cover) virtuoso, scholar, and, as director of the Fez conservatory and leader of its Arab-Andalusian Orchestra, one of the 20th century’s most important stewards of Andalusian classical music.

The French and English titles are set in Chambord, as is the text at the bottom around the Polydor logo. The knotted Kufic script forming a border around the French and English titles gives the title in Arabic (الموسيقى الاندلسية المغربية) and is not typeset.

Below the more modern calligraphic rendering, with exaggerated bowls suggesting Andalusi script, the artist’s name is set in what appears to be Times New Roman Bold Italic, but with an ad hoc ï and swashes that may be borrowed from elsewhere.
