Sabre Lager is a brand by the Everards Brewery from Leicester, England. A trademark was registered in January 1975the coasters featuring all-caps Hawthorn (Letraset, 1968) were probably produced around this time. The design with a soldier swinging a sabre appears to reference a member of the Royal Leicestershire Regiment from the 1840s – it was in that decade that the brewery was founded. Everards’ most popular beer, the Tiger, is named for the nickname of the Leicestershire Regiment and was first produced in 1972. Unlike the Tiger, Sabre Lager is no longer produced.
