American folk band Pearls Before Swine’s record covers are best known for their systematic use of classical artworks (Bosch’s Garden of Earthly Delights on One Nation Underground, Millais’ Ophelia on …Beautiful Lies You Could Live In, etc.) Those choices have been often regarded as a meaningful echo to the rich psychedelic visions of the band’s singer-songwriter, Tom Rapp.
On their 1970 album The Use Of Ashes, a detail of late Middle Ages’ mysterious tapestry The Hunt of the Unicorn is paired with the Dotted version of Baby Teeth. Art direction is attributed to Ed Thrasher on Discogs, who is also known for the famous visuals of Prince and The Revolution’s Purple Rain.
