Boxoffice Pro is a film industry magazine dedicated to the movie theatre business. In publication since 1920, the magazine includes expert analysis of industry trends, executive profiles, and financial forecasts. As the official publication of the National Association of Theatre Owners (NATO), the magazine is distributed to over 90% of North American Movie theaters.
Working closely with the editorial team, She Was Only redesigned the trade magazine with an aim to make it more modern, and visually impactful.
Inspired by the graphic history of the magazine and the classic covers from their 100-year archive, the new design references this history, while also transforming it into something new. A more visual approach to storytelling was introduced, along with bolder use of photography and film stills. The design utilises a flexible 12-column grid that allows for more diverse layouts and a greater mix of sidebars, infographics and pull quotes.
A new typographic palette has also been introduced. Tiempos Text by Klim was used for body text, alongside Gilroy by Radomir Tinkov for captioning and Flyer LT for titling.
