Expedition to Earth is a collection of science fiction short stories by Arthur C. Clarke, originally published in 1953. This paperback edition was issued in 1987 by New English Library, with cover art by Danny Flynn.

The cover typeface is a rare bird: Obliq was designed by Ellipsis and issued by Letraset in 1983/1984. The monolinear serif comes in two weights, both of which have been used here. Harold Lohner made a loose digital interpretation named Oblique Text (Harold’s Fonts, 2000). If you happen to have any information about Ellipsis, please let us know in a comment.

From the back cover:

Earth civilisation was long dead. But, dying, a message to the future had been left: a time capsule on the summit of the highest peak in the only mountain range to stand clear of the returned glaciers of the Last Ice Age.
The accumulated experience of those who had called themselves Mankind had been reduced to a few fragments, clues to how it had been …
And now, millennia later, the Expedition To Earth had come flaming down from deep space to lock on to the faintest of transmissions as a fast fading beacon whispered to them that here there had once been intelligent life.
