West Latin Playbill Swash 10 in use for the title of a science fiction paperback from 1967. Drawn by Dave West for Photo-Lettering, Inc., this face is similar to West’s Cooper Nouveau Swash. Where Cooper Nouveau is all round and chubby, this variant has flared stems and sharp terminals.

The Last Castle by Jack Vance (1916–2013) was first published in Galaxy Magazine in April 1966. It won the Nebula Award for Best Novella in 1966 and the Hugo Award for Best Novelette in 1967. This is the first book publication, as Ace Double H-21, together with World Of The Sleeper by Tony Russell Wayman. The cover art is by Jack Gaughan. The author’s name is set in caps from Akzidenz-Grotesk breit fett, known in the U.S. as Standard Extrabold Extended.
