Stark Classic is a typeface in the tradition of Roman inscriptional letters (think Trajan), designed by Robert Stark. The all-caps design is shown in four weights in Photo-Lettering’s Alphabet Thesaurus, Vol. 2 from 1965, but was already used on the cover of Ray Anthony Plays For Dream Dancing, originally released in 1956. This copy is one of the many subsequent reissues – probably from sometime in the early 1960s. The artwork is largely unchanged, with the exception of the “Capitol Full Dimensional Stero” line at the top, set in all-caps Venus Extra Bold Extended.

Ray Anthony was born in 1922. He’s the last surviving member of the Glenn Miller Orchestra.
