This is the second episode of Hometown Journal, an independent magazine/coffee-table book. It was produced using 7 different kinds of paper and 14 printing techniques. To complement the diverse canvas showing the art of 16 creatives the entire layout is constructed exclusively with the TT Norms typeface. Only the cover illustrated by Berke Yazicioglu uses another typeface, DIN Next.
We used TT Norms as it enabled us to create a characterful design without ever arguing with the main focus of the magazine: the images, art, and creatives we are showing. With this very well-crafted family, we were able to create an exciting layout on pages where no images were placed. Like this, the magazine keeps an interesting visuality throughout the 156 pages, never leaving us limited in how we could design the page.
