From The Holding Coat:

When I was in France in 1977, my girlfriend’s brother performed in a traveling one-ring circus. This is the second of two large posters I brought back; its on very thin paper, the better to post it on walls and hoardings. I love the tiny detailed people in the center of the drawing.

The poster is for a series of performances at Place Thiars, Marseille. The anarchic DIY typography for the poster template features a trichromatic rendition of Saphir on a bouncing baseline, accompanied by appearances of the rare Film and Galaxy Bold (a version of Churchward Design). All three typefaces were available from Mecanorma, the French manufacturer of dry transfer lettering. The venue and date appear to be added with rubberstamp lettering. Garage Gothic has a similar feel.

Bob Bréneur, former member of the circus, shared a video of a show by the Gulliver Brothers , recorded in Cabrières-d’Aigues in July 1975.
